Visiting the School
You are welcome to come and visit our school.
You will be given a conducted tour where we will be able to see where children are working in the classrooms in order for you have an insight into our learning environment.
We know that starting school is a big step for families and children.
When you accept a place with us we will write to you and let you know the key dates for settling and transition.
Our Reception teachers visit the settings that children attend so that we can first meet your child in a place where they are confident and comfortable.
We want to work closely with you so we will invite you into school to meet your child's teacher before they start school. This provides an opportunity for you to tell us all about your child, their fascinations, interests and who is important to them. You can also share any worries or concerns that you may have.
An evening meeting with the Headteacher for parents of all Reception children offered a place for September is held in the Summer term. This meeting is an opportunity for us to welcome you to our school, to share all the information that will need before your child joins us in September and to answer any other questions that you may have. We will also give you some information sheets with 'top tips' to help your child get off to a great start at school.
Finally, the children then have the opportunity to spend half a day in school when they will meet their future teacher, learning support assistant and classmates.
Parents of children at our school enjoy being very actively involved in a wide variety of ways, including helping out in classrooms, supporting and attending school events, getting involved with the PTA (Friends of Turnfurlong Infant School - FoTIS) events and even being a Governor.
Before and After School care
Working families may be interested in our very popular Breakfast Club. This runs from 7.50am to 8.45am during term time.
An after school care facility is run on site by Little Rascals and takes children from Turnfurlong Junior School as well as Turnfurlong Infant School. Please contact Zoe at Little Rascals for further information.
Alternatively, some families use the Jonathan Page Play Centre for after school care. Staff from Jonathan Page collect children directly from the classroom and transport them in their minibus. The Jonathan Page Centre also provides holiday care. For further information can be found here.
